Making A Model of Our School

To compliment our study of the A2STEAM school community students are creating a model
of the school using recycled school milk cartons to represent the classrooms.
Snacks!
I need more group snacks for the classroom, please bring in contributions.  For non-perishable snacks I suggest: Wheat Thin Originals, Annie's Cheddar Bunnies, Ak Mak Crackers from Trader Joes, or Goldfish crackers.

STEAM Expo
Our Steam EXPO is set for the evening December 13th, 2018.  The kindergarten presentation is from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM.  The complete schedule is:

            5:00 - 5:30 Grades K & 3

            5:45 - 6:15 Grades 1 & 4

            6:30 - 7:00 Grades 2 & 5

On expo night students should dress up a bit in nicer clothes then they would normally wear to school.  We want them to feel the importance of their work and the presentation.  Please don't feel you need to purchase something new, just whatever you have that is a little dressy.

Curriculum Overview
STEAM Project - We currently are in the middle of a project attempting to answer these driving questions: "What is a community?" and, "How can we teach visitors about the A2STEAM community?"  Last week students interviewed and photographed different community members here at STEAM. This week students are writing about their interviewees.

Reading - For the next few weeks we will be reading different versions of the well-known Gingerbread Man story.  We will be studying the similarities and differences between the different versions.

Writing - This week students will be writing about the A2STEAM community members they interviewed last week.

Math - This week will be comparing numbers to determine more and less.  We will also be dividing up hexagons as a precursor to studying fractions.

Word Study - This week we will continue to match letters to their sounds.
