Thanks for coming out to the concert. |
I hope you survived the icy, rainy weekend. I was really impressed with the work students were doing in class last week and the progress they are showing. Thanks for your help.

Commuting to A2STEAM
A document went home today in your child's red folder that was titled "Commuting to A2STEAM." The PTSO and administration are working hard to make drop off and pick up of students at school safe and predictable. Please review the document as soon as you can.
Field Trip Coming Up
As part of our study of the human body we are planning a kindergarten field trip to St. Joes Health Exploration Station in Canton. It is not finalized yet but we are planning it for the first week of May. More details are on the way, if you would like to join us as a chaperone please make sure you have filled out the necessary background check paperwork and submitted it to the office.
Curriculum Overview
Science - We are currently in the middle of a Project Lead The Way unit on the structure and function of the human body. Last week students assembled a miniature (and simplified) human body on paper. This week we will focus on learning about the heart and stomach.
Math - In class this week we will study place value. We will also do a lesson where we look at the height, width, and surface area of our backpacks.
Literacy - We are reading books about the human body to support the learning of our Project Lead The Way unit on the human body. We will also read a book that has a Phoenix in it so we can learn more about our school mascot.
Writing - Students are going to be doing some informational writing around one of the parts of the human body we have studied.
Word Study - This week students are working on different word sorts aligned with their academic next steps. Students are working on letter sounds, blends, and spelling patterns. The sort they completed last week went home today.
